Urban Forest Management and Public Works: Improving Communications and Building Capacity
The American Public Works Assn. will bridge the communication gap between public works and urban forestry professionals through a series of urban forestry management reports targeting public works managers. Reports will comprise information from existing research and up to three case studies of exemplary urban forestry programs.
Distribution of the findings will include free copies of the report in print and CD-ROM, a webcast, and live training workshops. The project’s outcome will provide public works managers access to materials and training which will help them to understand, replicate, and manage successful urban forestry programs. On the recommendation of the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council, the USDA Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program awarded a $64,590 grant to the $130,379 project.
