The Forest in Our Backyard

The Soundprint Media Center, Inc. proposes to disseminate information about urban and community forests to the general public and to practitioners in the field through a three-prong professional media project. This project, The Forest in Our Backyard, will produce and distribute five half-hour public radio documentaries, a half-hour public broadcasting instructional television program, and an accompanying website.

The radio components of the project will illustrate for the general public ideas about the benefits of urban and community forestry. The video component will highlight a range of case studies to be used by planning commissioners, elected officials, or urban forestry officials. On the recommendation of the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council, the USDA Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program awarded a $162,760 grant to the $336,448 project.
